Last weekend Alissa and I checked out the Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs. The landscape lended itself to my shitty drawing style. Alissa was writing about sustainability at the Ace for GOOD Magazine’s website, and we decided to make it a collaboration. I love the signage, which is hand-carved.
The sun shades are made from re-purposed canvas stitched together to fit on circle-shaped frames. The only plants around were cacti and and a small vegetable garden growing hot peppers.
The hotel/pool is dog friendly and community focused. It’s a swim club for everyone, not just hotel guests.
The hotel used to be a dusty motor-inn with a Denny’s attached and very little of that original structure has been changed.
