Uno is a skateboard magazine produced in Barcelona, Spain. I was recently featured in issue 39 and Beautiful Losers was featured in issue 38. The magazines are beautifully designed and printed in Hexachrome inks. Text from my interview below:
How long have you been working in anything related with skateboarding?
I started skating when I was 11 and skateboard graphics were really what inspired me to become an artist. The first skateboarding-related project I worked on was the Aaron Rose shoe. We started designing it almost two years ago and it just came out this month.
What’s the best aspect of it and what’s the worst?
I guess the best aspect of working on a skate project has been getting to collaborate with friends. I can’t really think of a negative aspect but I will say that I think the skateboarding industry has lost a lot of the raw, rebellious creativity that it had in the late 80s/early 90s.
Tell us a great source of inspiration to you. Anything…
Friends who make things, the city of Los Angeles, the music I listen to when I work, forgotten typography and coffee.
Any icon, reference, master, sensei, hero…?
Steve McQueen, Alexander Girard and Barney Bubbles.
Please mention another artist/designer/photographer/… starting out and not too famous that you respect.
Can I name two? Brian Roettinger and Jesse Spears
